This story caught my eye today... It could be the cheapest touring ever achieved? Basically a gentleman decided to ride his Honda Today 50cc 4 stroke scooter fully laden with touring kit... tent, sleeping bags etc 1400 odd kilometres from Portugal to Spain and back over 6 days. He says "One of the purposes of this adventure was, besides all the great fun in it, demonstrating that one can have a good life with little money."
I have to say this goal was achieved with a total fuel spend of approximately bugger all (35 euros). I don't know if I would be able to handle touring on a 50cc scooter but it looks like he had a bucketful of fun. See the video HERE.

Hi Jose! I have same scooter as well and i love it.Just recently ive instaled 81cc big bore kit from Takegawa and it is absolutly awesome. I cruise 80-90km/h and if i duck down or sit in slip stream of another car it can hit 100-105km/h.Fuel economy is still about same as i was getting when it was 50cc.

Awesome, purely awesome. I have kicked this idea around for a while. However I wanted to travel from Michigan through South America.

Hi. I'm José, from Portugal, the traveller and the author of the video. It was a great surprise to find my video around here. It's good to know that you enjoyed watching it. I achieved an economy of 100.1 MPG, a little better than you obtained in your review of this scooter. I'm planing another adventure. You can read about it in my blog: http://todayadventure.blogspot.com/ . Thanks for linking to my video. Cheers, José.
