Piaggio is planning to sell a plug-in hybrid version of its MP3 in Europe later this year and in the United States early 2010.
Piaggio says the U.S. verison of the three-wheel scooter will travel several miles on battery power alone,while the European version which is all-electric will do about 12 miles. Piaggio believe the U.S. model maybe able to get up to 141 miles per gallon overall, which would make it one of the most fuel efficient vehicles ever made.
