Kymco Downtown 300i

A sneak preview of one of Kymco's new machines... due to be unveiled officially at next months EICMA show in Milan. This tiem Kymco is going to take you "Downtown" with their entry into the 300cc market which appears to be the new segment to be in if you are a scooter manufacturer.

Details are a little sketchy but it would appear the Downtown 300i will feature a 4 valve, liquid cooled, injected 300cc engine. Along with this, word is on extended luggage capacity, a 14" front and 13" rear wheel combo with decent disc breaks on both along with optional ABS. More details as they come to hand but for the time being... it does look pretty damned good!

I test drove this at the 2010 Americade in Lake George, NY. Coming from a tour bike rider, this scooter was a very nice ride. It was very peppy and a smooth ride. If and when I look for a scooter...this will be the one.

Delivering our new Kymco, Downtown 300i Thursday replacing our Peoples S200. Feeling the 160 some CC in the 200, we surely wanted bigger and more comfortable. I am 6'1" at 245 and want to be able to travel a bit further from home. Had to talk myself into 14" & 13" wheels from the 16's on the 200. Looked at the 250 Grand Vista but too tight from seat to handle bars. The 200 was Red & went to the Silver for the 300....just like "downtown"! Further, ordered the V46 Box for the back. Can't wait till warm weather here in PA!

Looks nice and should be priced right. The low weight and 33HP shoudl make this thing really perform well (for a maxi scooter) I read someone the price should be under $5000 which means the street price should be a few hundred lower but I'll have to wait for a used one to come to the market. As long as you can buy late models low mile Yamaha and Suzuki 400cc scooters for $3000 and even less. I could never justify buying a new Kymco or any new scooter.

Hello from the northeast USA.
I am THRILLED that Kymco has sseen the light and is giving us what we want, finally! I have read the "Downtown" (who thought THAT one up :( ) Will be here in April or May of 2010, as it is waiting for certification. I'll be first in line to see it but
have no idea of the price. That's a factor for me.

Hi All,, Greetings from the Netherlands. I have ordered the downtown also and it will be available end of july here so I am waiting for it. I turned in my 6 months old People S 300I and that was also a great motor, engine wise that is. now Kymco also spent energy on the looks of the machine and its a full 299 cc instead of a 275.

Hi everybody from Greece,

I had the chance to see it from close...it looks very comfortable it has room for 2 full-face helmets under the sadle and the most important is that it has 33 hp...Good job if you concider that the Honda sh300i was the most powerfull with 27hp ! I have ordered it and I'll have it in 2 weeks :) !!!

terrible name (hope the Downtown badge comes off easily)

seems like a great bike though and one I'd like. Twice the power of my S-Wing bigger wheels, more storage, only 10kg more weight, shame it seems its not going to reach the UK

Hope that might change or something else similarly spec'd comes to the UK.
